Among Horses III is a folkish six-song indie album that brings together Haley Heynderickx (Portland, Oregon) and Max García Conover (Portland, Maine). The acoustic guitar is rhythmically gentle throughout, like its player's kicked back on the couch to strum away a rainy afternoon, and Heynderickx's voice is hauntingly sweet or sweetly haunting. She's described her own songs as "doom folk", and "Mother" on Among Horses III fits the description but isn't as melancholic as most tracks on I Need to Start a Garden, her 2018 album. Among Horses III is well worth a listen, especially "Francis" and "Little Wind".
